What to buy, and what to skip

  • DecentT-Shirts

    Usually €5–13Buy at or below €6

    A real budget strength: basic 100% cotton tees are about €5–9, with polos mostly around €7–13. Buy by fabric weight and finish; the price does not prove a one-season life either way.

  • DecentKnitwear

    Usually €14–26Buy at or below €15

    The old all-acrylic warning was wrong: current 100% cotton crew, half-zip and mock-neck knits sit around €14–22. Prefer those; a generic 'wool blend' still needs its percentage checked.

  • DecentSweats & Hoodies

    Usually €11–40Buy at or below €15

    Basic crews and hoodies start near €11–18, and verified 100% cotton examples exist. Licensed graphics and thicker pieces can exceed €30 without necessarily improving material value.

  • DecentTrousers

    Usually €15–31Buy at or below €17

    Cotton-gabardine chinos around €15–18 are honest low-cost utility; cargos and linen blends extend toward €30. Treat 'linen-look', viscose and muslin as separate fabrics, not substitutes.

  • DecentShorts

    Usually €6–15Buy at or below €8

    Cotton and casual summer shorts are genuinely inexpensive. Prefer simple woven or jersey constructions and judge pocketing, drawcord and fabric opacity before buying.

  • AvoidShirts

    Cotton poplin and Oxford shirts cluster around €10–22, but the category mixes cotton, linen blends, synthetics and 'linen-look' fabrics without evidence of consistently good cloth or construction. Consider only after checking opacity, seams, collar and exact composition in person.

  • AvoidJeans

    Many fits land around €14–25, but price and fit choice alone are not a denim recommendation. LCW does not establish denim weight, fabric source, seam quality or long-term shape retention; buy only after checking cotton percentage, recovery and construction in person.

  • AvoidJackets & Coats

    The old claim that nothing survives winter was unsupported, but the opposite recommendation is not earned. Jackets and polyester-filled puffers run about €18–61 while LCW publishes thickness rather than fill weight, temperature, waterproof or seam ratings. Fine as an inexpensive occasional layer; not a dependable recommendation for hard winter or sustained rain.

  • AvoidBags

    Waist, shoulder and laptop-compartment bags run about €5–27, but there is no published load, weather or impact testing and the pricier 'leather-look' models are polyester with PVC coating. Consider only for light carry after checking the zip, strap anchoring and padding in person—not for regular heavy or laptop use.
